Chart: Average Order Value
The Average Order Value (AOV) chart tracks the average transaction size of non-subscription payments over time.
For SaaS businesses that sell one-time products or services alongside subscriptions, it's a useful measure of how much revenue each individual invoice generates — and whether that figure is trending up or down. Unlike Average Spend Per Customer, AOV is calculated per invoice rather than per customer.

Chart Notes
- Only non-recurring invoice line items with a successful transaction contribute to this chart.
- All customers contribute to this chart, regardless of their status.
Calculation
ChartMogul calculates Average Order Value as the total transaction amount received from non-recurring (non-subscription) payments divided by the total number of paid invoices.
Chart Data
The Chart Data table for Average Order Value works differently than other charts. It provides the following breakdown:
- Paid Invoices — The total transaction amount and number of invoices from successful non-recurring payments.
- Average Order Value — The total transaction amount from non-recurring payments divided by the total number of paid invoices.
- Change — The increase or decrease from the previous report interval, shown as a percentage.
