Report: Average Sales Cycle Length
The Average Sales Cycle Length report tracks the average number of days it takes for a lead — someone who has expressed interest but hasn't yet paid — to become a paid subscriber.
For SaaS businesses, it's a key measure of sales efficiency — a shorter cycle means less time and fewer resources spent converting new customers. This report helps teams benchmark their sales process and spot trends that may be slowing conversions down.

On October 2, 2025 we introduced support for free subscriptions and are gradually making it available to all customers. For accounts tracking free subscriptions, ChartMogul uses a customer’s Paid subscriber since date to calculate the average sales cycle length.

ChartMogul automatically imports lead and trial data from a number of our integrations. If your Average Sales Cycle Length report appears empty, you may need to set up lead tracking.
What insights can I gain from average sales cycle length?
Tracking average sales cycle length helps you forecast sales and measure how efficiently your team converts leads. A shorter cycle means spending less time and fewer resources winning new business.

Sales cycle length generally increases as Average Sale Price — the average revenue added when a customer first converts — goes up. Average trial length (the time freemium customers take to engage before converting), pricing, and seasonality can also affect your sales cycle length.

For each new paid subscriber in a given report interval, ChartMogul:
- Calculates the number of days between the
Lead created atandPaid subscriber sincedates. - Sums those day counts across all new subscribers in the interval.
- Divides the total by the number of new subscribers in that interval.
For example, 10 customers become leads on May 1. Five become paying subscribers on May 11 (5 sales, each with a 10-day sales cycle = 50 days) and the other five become paying subscribers on May 21 (5 sales, each with a 20-day sales cycle = 100 days).
