TL;DR
Trials uses a customer’s Free trial started at
date to chart the number of individuals or businesses who have started trials over time.
Chart Notes
Only customers with a Free trial started at
date contribute to this chart.
On October 2, 2025, we introduced a new “trial” line item type and are gradually making it available to all customers. If you have this feature enabled:
- Free Trials includes both customers with a Trial started at date and those with trial invoice line items.
- One customer can have multiple trials.
- You can filter Free Trials by plan. Plan filters exclude customers who have a Trial started at date but no trial invoice line items.
- If a customer has both a Trial started at date and trial invoice line items, ChartMogul ignores the Trial started at date.
Calculation
ChartMogul uses the number of customers who have a Free trial started at
date to calculate the number of trials.
Chart Data
The Chart Data table for Free Trials works differently than other charts. It provides the following breakdown:
- Free Trials — The number of customers with a
Free trial started at
date. - Change — The increase or decrease in Free Trials from the previous report interval, shown as a percentage.
Select a Free Trials cell to see the list of free trials started in the reporting period.
