Report: Paid Subscriptions
The Paid Subscriptions report tracks the total number of active and past due subscriptions your customers hold over time.
For SaaS businesses, it's a key measure of commercial momentum — showing whether your paying subscriber base is growing or contracting. Unlike subscriber counts, this report counts subscription instances, so a customer with two active plans counts as two subscriptions.

This report is called Paid Subscriptions for accounts with free subscription support. For accounts where free subscription support hasn't been enabled, this report is called Subscriptions. Learn more.
If you sell subscriptions with licenses, seats, or add-ons, use Subscription Quantity to report the number of subscription seats or individual subscriptions in subscription sets over time.
Use All Subscriptions to track the number of paid and free subscriptions.
What to Know About This Report
- Only active and past due subscriptions contribute to this report. Learn more about subscription statuses.
- Subscriptions stay active until you cancel them in your billing system, or until they churn based on your Handling Past-due Subscriptions setting.
- The number of subscriptions can be higher than the number of subscribers, as a subscriber can have multiple subscriptions.
Free subscriptions
On October 2, 2025, we introduced a new “trial” line item type and enabled support for zero-value subscription line items. We’re gradually making the functionality available to all accounts. If you have this feature enabled:
- Subscriptions is renamed to Paid Subscriptions and only includes paid subscriptions.
- A new report, All Subscriptions, allows you to track both free and paid subscriptions.
How ChartMogul Calculates Paid Subscriptions
ChartMogul calculates Paid Subscriptions as the total number of subscriptions with an Active or Past due status in a given period.
How to Read the Report Data Table
The Report Data table breaks down your subscription changes for the selected period:
- New Paid Subscriptions – New paying subscriptions that started during the period.
- Cancelled Subscriptions – Paying subscriptions cancelled during the period.
- Net Change – The net increase or decrease in paying subscriptions after new subscriptions and cancellations.
- Total Paid Subscriptions – The total paying subscriptions at the end of the selected period.
- Change – The percentage change in total paid subscriptions compared to the previous equivalent period.
