Applying changes to source settings
When making changes to your source settings, such as handling past-due subscriptions or invoice handling settings, you have three options for how to apply those changes. Each option handles your existing and future data differently:
- Save Settings — Applies the new settings only to future data updates.
- Save and Reprocess Data — Applies the new settings to both the existing and future data, without reimporting data from your billing system.
- Save and Reimport Data — Applies the new settings and reimports all data from your billing system, including records filtered by previous settings.
Here’s what we cover in this article:

Understanding your options
Learn how the three options affect your existing and future data.
Option | Impact | Use case |
---|---|---|
Save Settings | Saves your changes without reprocessing or reimporting historical data. The new settings apply only to future data updates. If any customers are later reimported or reprocessed, their historical metrics may change based on the new configuration. |
Use this option only if you’re making minor, forward-looking changes. Saving settings without reprocessing or reimporting data may lead to inconsistencies between historical and future data. |
Save and Reprocess Data | Saves your changes and reprocesses the existing data already stored in ChartMogul. No data is imported from your billing system. |
Use this option if you’ve changed handling past-due subscriptions or invoice handling settings and want those changes to apply retroactively. Reprocessing ensures consistent treatment of past and future data without performing a full reimport. |
Save and Reimport Data | Saves your changes and reimports all billing data from your billing system. This replaces all billing-related data (invoices, transactions, subscription events, etc.) but does not delete your ChartMogul customer records or associated objects like notes and opportunities. Manual data edits are also retained and automatically reapplied after the reimport. |
Use this option when your changes require importing historical records that were previously excluded. For example, if you’ve enabled the Import deleted customers setting. |
