Excluding customers from metrics

You’ll need to be an Owner, Admin or Staff to update data imported from a billing system.

ChartMogul allows you to exclude individual customers from your metrics. When you exclude a customer, they remain visible in customer lists but are removed from metric calculations. Any changes you make are stored in ChartMogul only and don’t affect your billing system data. Your exclusions are preserved when you resync the source or receive webhook updates.

Reasons for excluding customers

Here are some common cases when you may want to exclude customers from metrics:

  • Test customers — You added customers for testing purposes and don’t want them affecting your metrics or appearing in reports.
  • Incorrectly billed customers — A customer was billed incorrectly, and you want to exclude them from metrics while you manually recreate their billing data with correct information. This can also be achieved by updating the incorrect billing information.
  • Duplicate customers — You accidentally created duplicate customer records and want to exclude one while preserving the data for audit purposes.

How excluding customers works

Here are some details you should understand about excluding customers from metrics:

  • Excluding customers is not available for previous versions of our Chargebee and Recurly integrations.
  • ChartMogul preserves your exclusions during resyncs and webhook updates.
  • Excluded customers remain visible in ChartMogul but are removed from metric calculations.
  • Customer records, opportunities, tasks, notes and other associated data are preserved.
  • Data for excluded customers continues to sync from your billing system, but all updates remain excluded from metrics.
  • Excluding customers doesn’t delete lead and trial dates imported from the billing system. To stop such customers from appearing in charts like Leads and Free Trials, you’ll need to remove the dates manually.
