Transaction fee handling

Transaction Fee Handling is a ChartMogul setting that controls whether transaction fees are included in or excluded from your MRR and transaction metrics. It's available for Google Play, Google Sheets, PayPal, third-party, and custom sources.

For example, Google Play and PayPal treat transaction fees — the per-transaction charges deducted by a payment processor before passing revenue to you — as a fixed expense and automatically deduct them from revenue. To avoid inconsistent revenue reporting between these billing systems and ChartMogul, configure the setting to deduct these fees.

If your billing system doesn't automatically deduct transaction fees, keep the default setting: Do not deduct transaction fees.

How Transaction Fee Handling affects your metrics

Let’s look at an example invoice for $5.00 with a transaction fee of $1.00.

With the default option Do not deduct transaction fees from my MRR and cash flow metrics selected, the invoice total is $5.00 — including the $1.00 transaction fee.

With Deduct transaction fees from both my MRR and cash flow metrics selected, the invoice total is $4.00. ChartMogul deducts the $1.00 fee from the $5.00 invoice.

How to configure Transaction Fee Handling

1. Navigate to Settings > Sources.
2. Click the :settings~gray: Settings icon next to the source you want to configure.
3. Expand Data Settings.

4. In the Misc Settings section, choose your transaction fee handling setting:

   

5. Click SAVE SETTINGS, SAVE AND REPROCESS DATA or SAVE AND REIMPORT DATA to apply the changes. Learn more.
